By immersing ourselves in movement, we tap into something profoundly alive: the joy of discovery, the thrill of risk and the beauty of connection. Dance is a way of living more fully in the moment - a practice that is as challenging as it is freeing, as technical as it is intuitive, and as individual as it is collective.

Rose’s teaching methodology is a combination of things she gathered throughout the years and things she developed herself. Her practice can be described as a blend of contemporary and urban dance techniques, working with a sensory based approach and improvisational exploration. Drawing from flying low, floorwork, release technique, house and martial arts, her practice is grounded in the belief that dance is not just about technical skill but about connecting deeply with oneself, others and the surrounding space. Central to her practice is improvisation - a gateway to freedom, playfulness and presence. Her classes are built on a foundation of vigour, curiosity and self-expression, encouraging dancers to explore their unique movement potential while honouring their bodies and the environment around them.

IMAGINATION, RISK, PLAY

Through structured exercises and open exploration, Rose’s classes focus on grounding, agility, efficiency and fluidity. Whether through deep listening to physical sensations or dynamic, high-energy movement sequences, the focus remains on specificity, elements of surprise, texture and awareness in execution.

Her classes build strength, stamina and body awareness and include complex movement phrases and explorations that blend various dance styles, emphasising flow, smooth transitions in and out of the floor, musicality, finding ease in effort, traveling through space and dynamic contrasts.

Improvisational exercises form a core part of the practice, offering participants tools to connect with their instincts, spark their imagination and experiment with compositional elements. You will explore foundational principles such as:

• Time and Space: Investigating timing, initiation and arrival.
• Organic Movement: Finding flow and connection in every action.
• Dynamics and Texture: Balancing strength and softness, speed and stillness.
• Attention to Detail: Refining movement intention and form.
• Physical Intelligence: Anchoring in the body and cultivating a deep kinesthetic awareness.

Depending on the experience and interest of the group, voice work and/or creative writing can be included in the classes.
The ultimate goal is to expand movement vocabulary, refine performativity and discover new pathways of physical and creative expression.

ANALYSIS & INTUITION

Rose approaches dance as both a technical and intuitive practice. By observing what is happening in the body during movement and identifying stories, limitations and areas for growth, we refine patterns and uncover new possibilities. By balancing analysis and intuition we cultivate clarity. This dual focus on clarity and creativity allows dancers to develop greater coordination, musicality and expressiveness, cultivating a sense of physical intelligence and intentionality in their movement.

STRUCTURE & SPONTANEITY

“The balance of structure and spontaneity in the class mirrors the balance we seek in life. Grounding and fluidity, alertness and release, stillness and momentum. Together, we create a shared space of exploration where everyone is encouraged to trust their impulses and find moments of surrender and surprise”

Her workshops are open to anyone curious about movement, regardless of background. The class will be adapted to the age and experience of the group.

By embracing both the analytical and the intuitive, Rose will nurture a practice that is as physically rigorous as it is liberating.

“My approach to dance is both freeing and precise. We will observe the patterns that shape our movement, refine them with clarity and then expand our range of possibilities. This process allows us to explore the edges of our creativity, breaking through limitations and finding new ways to express ourselves. At its core, this practice is about freedom - freedom to move, to choose and to connect.”

Rose’s practice has been influenced by artists she has worked with and learned from: Judith Sanchez Ruiz, Edivaldo Ernesto, Botis Seva, Seke Chimutengwende, Rakesh Sukesh and Alesandra Seutin amongst others.
