Tell them about how you're never really a whole person if you remain silent, because there's always that one little piece inside you that wants to be spoken out, and if you keep ignoring it, it gets madder and madder and hotter and hotter, and if you don't speak it out one day it will just up and punch you in the mouth.

- Audre Lorde

Not really dead. Not really dreaming. is Rose’s new solo work in progress about how poetry is a necessity for survival in today’s world. Inspired by the writings and words of Audre Lorde, Maya Angelou and Birago Diop.

In a world where boundaries blur, a woman finds herself in complete stillness. The past lingers, not as a weight, but as a guide forward. Poetry becomes her bridge—one foot in dreams, one in reality. Binding ancestral presence to contemporary being, she alters her world and, in turn, is altered herself. As thoughts and dreams slowly take flight, she tries to keep her voice alive and mouth from falling silent.

This work has received support (space in kind) from Cripa Center for Research in the Performing Arts (Auroville, India).

Upcoming residencies include: Bodies in Space (Brussels, Belgium) in June 2025 and Choreodrome at the Place (London, UK) in August/September 2025.
